New Hydrogen Plant Begins Operation In Texas

Linde has started up a new hydrogen plant in La Porte, Texas, that will supply over 30 tons (27 tonnes) per day of high-purity liquid hydrogen. The liquefier takes hydrogen from Linde’s 372-mi. (600-km) Gulf Coast pipeline, which has over 15 independent hydrogen production sources. Linde will purify and liquefy the hydrogen before supplying it to end markets including material handling, mobility, aerospace, manufacturing, metals, energy, and electronics.

“This plant will not only boost the reliability of our existing network but will also make the supply chain more efficient and increase our ability to serve the rising demand from existing and new customers, for both conventional and clean hydrogen,” said Jeff Barnhard, vice president south region at Linde.

Linde is a global player in the production, processing, storage, and distribution of hydrogen. The La Porte hydrogen plant is the company’s fifth in the US, joining Linde operated hydrogen plants California, Alabama, Indiana, and New York.
