NAS Report: Accelerating Decarbonization of the U.S. Energy System
The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine released a new interim report exploring how to cut emissions from electricity, transportation, industrial, and building sectors. The report highlights hydrogen as a solution for deep decarbonization dozens of times. The report calls for building out hydrogen and other low-carbon fuels production and pipeline network, and tripling federal investment into RD&D technologies such as hydrogen from electrolysis or biomass gasification, among other actions.
