Air Liquide & Cummins Inc. to produce hydrogen for public utilities with world’s largest PEM electrolyzer

Cummins Inc. has provided a 20-megawatt PEM electrolyzer system to generate green hydrogen, making it the largest in operation in the world. The Cummins Inc. electrolyzer system is installed at the Air Liquide hydrogen production facility in Bécancour, Quebec. The completion of the construction of the PEM, completed on January 26, 2021, has increased the capacity of the complex by 50% and helps meet the growing demand for low-carbon hydrogen in North America. When compared to traditional hydrogen production processes the new unit will avoid approximately 27,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of 10,000 cars per year.
